So many favourite Aussie authors (and as I hop around this blog hop, I'm using all of them one after the other!). I love Anne Gracie for her romances, Brian Caswell for his lovely YA fantasy and science fiction, Ruth Park essentially for Playing Beattie Bow, which I think is the best Australian time travel story out there, and Melina Marchetta, because her Italo-Australian families make me laugh in recognition.
Ooh, seems like there is a good selection of books on offer here. Count me in :-)
I don't get to the Taverna enough Eleni! I remember when Jenn J McLeod was one of your guests, I visited then... I must remember to visit more often because I do love a good drinking hole! In terms of favourite Aussie authors, I will go with an older one too and say, Elynne Mitchell for the Silver Brumby series. (there's a post on her by Jennifer Scoullar in the blog hop).
Wow, so many Oz authors worth mentioning: Kate Morton, Matthew Reilly, Di Morrissey, Rachel Johns, Kimberley Freeman, Kim Kelly, Geraldine Brooks...and they are just the famous ones :)
Great giveaway!!
I seriously have problems with being asked about fave authors because it's so hard to pick one so it usually depends on my mood for the day, lol
and today, it is Alison Croggon :)
along with all other Aussie female fantasy authors out there: Traci Harding, Trudi Canavan, Kate Forsyth... the list is unending!
More great giveaways, Eleni!!
I loved watching the voting unfold for the Booktopia top 100 - so many wonderful authors whose books I love and so many new ones!!
My all time favourite is Mary Grant Bruce, but if I want a rush of adrenaline, Matthew Reilly is my pick.
What a wonderful give away! They're a terrific set of books. Happy Aussie writer day!
What a great giveaway.
I love Jenn J McLeod, Deborah Burrows, Juanita Kees, Susan Duncan, Michael Robotham, Josephine Moon and Bryce Courtney, to name a few.
I am amazed at the amazingly talented Aussie writers we have.
I am even more amazed by the number of authors that I never realised were Australian.
Happy Australia Day.
Karen
I really don't know any Aussie authors other than you, Eleni, so guess who my fav is? Hint... look in the mirror! Great way to celebrate Down Under! Cheers!
Yasoo! ;-) What a diverse and exciting bunch of authors we Aussies are. So many great books to choose from. This is my first Book'd Out Blog Hop so wasn't sure what to write about, so I chose to dig up a little book of Australian verse I read in the 1960s. I'm surprised at the number of commenters who were also impressed by The Call of the Gums. Happy Australia Day to everyone!
Great giveaway Eleni. I have too many favourite Australian authors to name. The blog hop has been great and thanks so much for hopping over to mine. Australian fantasy rocks xx
Catherine, I know what you mean. I was hoping people would answer with more than one so I can get names of authors who are new to me :)
I loved Playing Beatie Bow when I was I kid - done so well, and Anne Gracie is one of my faves. Gideon is still one of my favourite heroes.
I have to check out Brian Caswell and Melina Marchetta.
Thanks for stopping by.
