On the road again

Isn't this just the coolest picture?

Wow, eh!

OK, back to the reason for this post (the picture is a huge bonus ;) ). I'm back on the editing road. Woohoo.

The chapter still needs more work but I think I've ironed out the major kinks that made it feel - well just wrong.

BTW - I got some great feedback from a competition I just missed out on going to round 2.

And I want to look at short stories again. A different style and focus may help to keep me more rejuvenated.

Oh and I'm on tenderhooks with BSG and the final episodes. Not long now. How bittersweet.

Stinkin' Hot!!!

Well Adelaide is caught up in a heat wave with low 40 degrees Celsius weather. Thank goodness for air conditioning. Unlike a friend of mine, I am not a lizard, I do not find this weather comfortable. But I'd rather a dry hot day than a humid day, I suppose.

Was having nice walks along the beach but I've had problems with my back this week and beach walking isn't the best for it. Drat!!

My deep edit/polish of HD is going slow. I had a really tough chapter to edit as there was a lot of information that needed to be revealed in this part of the story and I think I've just got it to flow. Yay me.

And I'm so proud of SciFi TV Australia - they had Battlestar Galactica season 4 marathon today and aired the latest episode (13)  just hours after it was aired in the US. Way to go. I could actually sit and relax. I'm loving this season... it's bittersweet - I want to see the end but I'd love the show to keep going.

I think that bittersweet feeling is also there when you read a really good book - want to get to the finish but want to savour the story. Don't you think?

Keep cool...

Catching up...and polishing

I'm continuing the polishing of my manuscript. It's a long, slow process but I'm at least moving forward. It will will be nice to finally let you know that it's ready for submission. *sigh*

I've also been quiet as I have been doing the shopping for Christmas, caught up with friends and family over the last few days. It has been really lovely. Though I haven't caught up with everyone I wanted to. That seems to happen - time slips away so quickly by the time you make the rounds, you have to start over again. Well at least that is what it seems like to me. :)

I'm way behind on my blog reading - I subscribe to a number of blogs and am falling way behind - and there is so many posts I want to investigate further. Thank goodness for readers, otherwise this would be an impossible feat. I have always had a problem with feeling tired with a computer screen and have really noticed it more in the past month. So hence my stop and starts. It's the way I seem to work. Though I have been a little behind of exercise *hangs head*. But 2009 is around the corner, so would like to establish a routine then. Remind me ok?!!

Also I'm disappointed to learn that Luna will not be published in Australia, so will have to get the US versions if if I want to read them or buy e-books. It was just so easy going to the local Target or Kmart store and having them available there or from the Australian Harlequin site. Too bad.

Over the 20K mark!

Yay me!! Yes I'm at 23,421 words - see my little book counter go up on the right (on the site for those receiving this via feed). So almost half way. Abit behind but what the hell, I think I'm achieving more than I seriously thought I would be able to. So little happy dance!

Some of the ladies have seriously floored me with already reaching the 50K. Awe-inspiring, I tell you. Felicity, RC, Sandie!! Also a pat on the back for my fellow Bootcampers Alison, Hannah, and Tracey. And the SA contigent (Sharon, Lynn). Actually...great going everyone. Check out the blog.

I'm enjoying the way Delta is going. I thought it would be a novella but I'm over 23K and it's still getting interesting, flinging more questions than answers. LOL! It's alive! Maybe it won't be a mammoth like Alpha but it certainly wont be the 15-20K that I intially envisioned. LOL! Funny how I can either do short short stories or novels, but have yet to do something in between!!

Happy Writing...

Coding manuscripts ....

I was thinking about how I was going to talk about WIPs without mentioning their names on this blog. Why? Well if I enter any manuscript in a competition and a judge just happens to read this blog... well let's say that would just create problems for them. So I had a little brain wave (yes, I know scary!) and thought I will Alphabetise them but using the Greek alphabet. Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta etc..... It'd be cool if I can go through the whole alphabet :) and then start all over again!

So that means I'm working on Alpha and Beta WIPs at the moment.

I think I'll use SSAlpha etc for short stories because I have a few in the pipeline.
