June challenge update

Well tomorrow is the last day of June, and while I didn't reach my June goal, I'm happy with what I did achieve.

It seems my brain this month was tuned to editing, and so that is what I concentrated on. I have now sent GTH for a CP for the final review (thanks, A!). So when that is done, I will be sending it off.  So while I wait, I will work on the cover letter. There is such an art to them.

As for L&D, more of the plot is unfolding in my little head - of course, I'm writing things down.

Concentration has been an issue this month, with many breaks, and naps. Oh, the joys of CFS. Still, I'm chugging along, doing what I can do.

I actually did something I haven't done in long time - I wrote a poem yesterday. I don't consider myself a poet, but I do sometimes have things that come to me in poetry form. Sometimes it's more in song form - with a tune to it. Not like I'm a musician either. But it seems to me things come in a form that is best for the story, or that's what I think :))

Again, some stories are just short ones, as what is attested by my recent publications in flash fiction. I do enjoy doing these pieces. So I want to do more of them until my brain is ready to work on the next novel.
A balance of sorts.

Eeeek- is it that time already?

I can't believe it's the 21 of June. Where has this month gone?

I have had as usual a busy time - there is the other commitments, but I've also been editing more than writing. I've gone over Gateway again, and I need to go for another read through, before sending it my beta reader-she of the fantastic grammar skills :))

I have written almost 5K on L&D, but I haven't been able to concentrate on it. I've come up with a couple of plot points that need a bit of thinking on, before going on. That is the danger of being a mostly pantser. But it's getting there, I think.

I have also been busy looking at my short stories and submitting them to markets. So far no go for a few submissions. I've also reworked a flash fiction story, which I had written some time last year. That's with my CPs now. That was fun to write.

I'm also helping with the Claytons Conference set up. It's really looking good, and it's going to be three days of non-stop fun, writing, chatting, and learning.

I've had some time in writing rooms to get some more reading and writing done.

Oh, and I have to share this cover from fellow Darksider, Kylie Griffin's, upcoming debut book. I just love it. Stunning, isn't i.

Also, I had my SARA meeting last week, and that was great. And on Thursday, I went to fellow SARA member, Amy Matthews' debut book launch. I couldn't stop smiling - it was so wonderful to see such a wonderful turnout and get a copy of my own in my hot little hands. :)

Just love the cover.

Amy is going to be on the 7.30 report (SA) on the ABC on Friday night.  She's our star.

And again, I'm proud of being a SARA member, with a fabulous prize being given for the charity auction at the Romance Writers of Australia conference. It's for a good cause - The Otis Foundation. Sorry, can't give you more details than that right now. But if you are going to Melbourne, take money for tickets!!! Thanks to Bronwyn Stuart for organising it this year.

Okay, back to work.

Stunning Saturday

Sticking my head up from the editing cave. Here are some more book covers this week. Again, I enjoy them for different reasons.

I really love the layout of this, except it all was spoiled for me because of the writing. The E looks like a Greek S. Yes, I know they did the same in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but it annoyed me in that too.

So I read it as Ths Godsss Tsst

See there are Ss in the title, so they could have used it where it should have gone, AND teach something about the Greek language. Oh, well. Just one of my peeves, but still I'm showcasing the cover.

Yes, I TRY and be a silver-linings type girl. :))

So, my favourites - The Hidden Goddess, and Unearthly. Love the colour choices for both of these, and that we don't see the face of the heroine (or what I'm assuming is the heroine).

Dragon's Quest - podcast

Yes, I promised I would let you know when I had details of the podcast of Dragon's Quest.

It is now on the Antipodean SF site, in issue 156 Beta. It is narrated by yours truly. Yes, an interesting experience, I can tell you. My first podcast, so that's another milestone.

The story is at about 19.20 but please sit back, relax and enjoy the whole issue.

June challenge update

I've started the 50ks in 30 days challenge.

First check in was on Sunday.

Here's how I am going so far.

Writing

Editing

Yes, I'm ahead in editing the novella, but it's flowing, and I want to take advantage of that. Then I can concentrate on the words.

Are you doing the challenge? If so, how are you going?

Super Sunday

If you want your writing to be taken seriously, don't marry and have kids, and above all, don't die. But if you have to die, commit suicide. They approve of that.
~ Ursula K. Le Guin (author)

Both of these just made me laugh.

Hope they made you at least crack a smile.
