Birthday week, injuries, and blogs

It has been a busy week for me on the personal front. Master 5 had a Hungry Jacks birthday party for his school friends on Tuesday (OMG the happy screaming). It was my birthday on Wednesday in which Master 5 and family bestowed me with flowers and a birthday cake with candles too. (So cute) I had a physio appointment on Thursday and had a much needed nap. And Friday was helping out with Master 5's home party for Saturday.

If I was to tell you that there was a Daytona racing game, a pinball machine and karaoke machine - would you think it was for a 5th Birthday party?  Well yep it was and the kids had a ball. It was all a hit. There was meant to be a jumping castle but with all the rain we had on the weekend, that had to be cancelled. Kids didn't seem to mind especially Master 5.

Unfortunately, as I was video-taping those singing  karaoke I fell on my bung knee and I think I jerked my whole body, because I'm hurting on my right side from my shoulder to my foot. So took the day off yesterday and just slept and watched DVDs. I'm still recovering (ie feeling very crabby), but at least I'm typing something even though it feels like it's in slow motion.

On the writing front, there is not much to report, other than my blog has made it to the runner-up list (at number 96!) of Jonathan Crossfield's Top 50 Australian writing blogs. Click the icon below to see the full list including the Bootcampers 101 blog at number 114 (as well as many of my writing buddies).  Yay for all of us.

Christos Anesti

To all those celebrating Orthodox Easter, Happy Easter, or as we say in Greek 'Christos Anesti'

Paschal greeting, Easter custom among Eastern Orthodox and several Roman Catholic and Protestant Christians to greet another person with "Christ is Risen!" and the response is Alithos Anesti ("Truly He is Risen!" or "He Has Risen Indeed!")

I've started a blog called 'Fatiguedom', using my experiences with CFS in a fictional setting, with the character called Lo'EnGee. You can find it here

It is a work in progress really. I'm not sure where this is going to go, but it is an avenue to talk about CFS in general, though maybe in a style of fantasy, science fiction, or paranormal, only because that's what I write.

So join Lo'EnGee as she travels the land and tries to make sense of it all.

5 Years Today!

Five years ago, my godson, Kosta was born into this world. And I was privileged to be in the birthing room and witness this miracle.

Master 5 (as I shall refer to him from now on) is one of the most funniest, creative, and smartest kids I've had the privilege of knowing. Oh, he's cheeky too and got one hell of a cheeky smile.

He loves spending time with me (go figure) and he's at the age where' s learning to read and write, and it's such a joy to see.  He's into cars already, gardening, drawing, & just hanging out talking. I've also been teaching him headbanging to AC/DC's It's a Long Way to the Top. We are a sight to see - *grin*

So 'Rock'n'Roll' and 'Hey Charger', buddy boy.

love Nouna (who is very blessed to be so).

100th post - round up

There is no way that I will beat Monique Wood's post, so anyone wanting to see Wolverine's glorious behind are welcome to here.

Some writing buddies have gotten together to create a blog called We Love YA (Young Adult fiction). So good luck to Vanessa, Natalie, Kiki, Diane, Sara, and Amanda. Check them out here.

The Bootcamper 101ers are doing a BIAM - Book in a Month. Well I'm not doing too well at that, but I have some words down for a short story and for another story, which I'm not sure will still be a short story or a novella.

And Bootcamper Nikki Logan, has the title of her debut book, Lights, Camera.... Kiss The Boss, which is being released in January 2010.

Oh and thanks to Keziah Hill for finding a Eddie Izzard stand up clip. I'm going to post it below too. Since I'm a Star Wars fan, thought this was hilarious!

warning: Course language used.

And here's one of my favourite movie of all time, with my childhood hero, Luke Skywalker. Han Solo was more my tween hero. And the greatest voice ever - James Earl Jones as Darth Vadar.

Next reward book

After careful consideration, my next reward book is:  Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

Yes, I know, I know,  I'm way behind.

Reward book finally finished!

Some time ago, I decided I was only going to read a chapter of a book that I had been looking forward to reading, after I reached a goal that I set for my writing.

Basically, edit a chapter of my WIP, then reward self by reading one chapter of reward book.

That reward book was Anna Campbell's Claiming the Courtesan. What a book!! Fantastic read. I enjoyed it - it was a Regency noir - & was very dark indeed. A tale of obsession, lust, violence, freedom, love & redemption. And this was a debut novel. Wow! You can find out more about this book here on Anna's website.

And she's an Aussie too. It's great to see writers you know from writing organisations do well. So well done Anna.

Now onto the next reward book. Still deciding which book (though I do have a couple more of Anna's in my TBR pile - *g*).

Great Expectations contest

Yes it's time for some traditional Greek folk dancing (which I love).

As I mentioned in this post, I was a finalist in the Great Expectations competition. The results are in and I came third! This is a huge thrill for me. Would have nice to have request, but am loving that I got a placing.

And fellow Bootcamper Nikki, got a second place in another category. Go Nikki!
