Another count down item.... the premier of season 2 of SGU. It's really the one series that I have pretty much followed this year on TV (that and Dollhouse, which now longer exists *sad face*)
Here's the latest trailer from the San Diego Comic Con. Looks like a lot of action, angst, romance, and mystery....
You Tube link
And there's a trailer that has been making the rounds on the web - The Jane Austen Fight Club. Intrigued? I was, and found it hilarious....watch out for the claws...

Count Down....
In just over 2 weeks, I will be flying out to Sydney for the Romance Writers of Australia's conference: Sun, Surf and Sizzle!!!! Yeeha....
I am really looking forward to sharing an apartment with my Bootcamp buddies, catching up with everyone I know, making new friends, learning, pitching, convening (I'll be the conveyer to a workshop by Tracey O'Hara and Vanessa Barneveld called Book Trailers and other author promotions - how cool is that?!!!), going to the cocktail party, the awards dinner, the Silver charity lunch, the AGM, the Paranormal breakfast, e-list dinner, attending workshops.....and more.....
After the conference, I head to BootiCon - writing retreat with my Bootcampers. Woohoo!!
So I'm going to be gone for 8 days.
The past week has been a flurry of errands. Goodness, just when you think you have them under control, more pop out from under a rock!!!
I'm going to be blogging over at the Romance Writers of Australia's blog on Monday 26th July on the topic of Graphic Novels. Please come along and have a look.
And of course I am counting down until I get to see the next installment of the Harry Potter films. Part one coming out in November this year, and part two next year in July.
Here's the trailer:
I have been re-watching the other films - up to The Order of the Phoenix which somehow has escaped being in my collection.

The Quotable Bitch....
Some of you may remember at the beginning of the year, I mentioned having a calendar called The Quotable Bitch. Well here's some quotes for you - make of them what you will (sometimes I wonder about the context).
"Poor George [Bush], he can't help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
~Ann Richards, Governor of Texas
LOL! Priceless!
"I'm the nicest goddamn dame that ever lived."
~Bette Davis, actress
"How wonderful. We are so thrilled that Joan has learned how to read."
~Bette Davis, actress, on actress Joan Crawford
(the claws are out. Negates the nicest dame quote don't you think? ;)))
"I don't mind growing old. If I have to go before my time, this is how I'll go - cigarette in one hand, glass of scotch in the other."
~Ava Gardner, actress
"You shouldn't step on people to get ahead, but you can step over them if they are in the way."
~Star Jones, TV personality
(No helping hand from her!)
"Man's role is uncertain, undefined and perhaps unnecessary."
~ Margaret Mead, anthropologist
(deep.... Is she is talking of Men or of the Human Race?)
and finally from Mae West, actress
"Marriage is a great institution, but I'm not ready for an institution yet."

Nomination for LWA
I am very honoured to have been nominated for Romance Writers of Australia's Lynne Wilding Meritorious Service Award!! (or the LWA for short). Actually it is my non writing name that has been nominated. Still it's me and it's to do with writing, so here I talk about it.
This award is to honour a member's contribution to RWA. It is named after the first president of RWA, Lynne Wilding, whom without her efforts, there would not have been an RWA. From all accounts she was a remarkable woman, whom unfortunately I didn't get to be introduced to, but was lucky enough to hear speak at a past conference.
This nomination has stunned me to be honest. My fellow nominees are wonderful women who all do so much for RWA, and being among them is just so surreal. Big group hug.
But I'd like to thank all those who took the time out to nominate me. I'm very humbled.

June challenge & Sprinting
Well June is done and dusted. While I had aimed for 25K, I didn't get there but did reach 17,954 words of writing, and 16,652 words edited. So I am very pleased with this seeing as the beginning of June just wasn't working out. I did find a secret weapon in my arsenal become predominate in the last week of the challenge - sprinting.
What is sprinting?
It is when you go for a predetermined amount of time getting the most words down you can in that time. 15 minutes or 30 minutes, it doesn't matter. What matters is just getting the words done. Because of these sprints which I have continued this month, I have now finished my skeleton draft of DreamTamer. Yeeha!
Sprinting works because I have a start and end time and because on the whole I meet up with other writers in a chat room, we report in at the end of the sprint, and we can cheer each other on. It's fabulous. And works well with my CFS. So if I can sprint a few times a week, I will be a happy lassy. Sprints so far this week: 2 *grin*
