June Challenge Done!

I finished the challenge & just crept in with my goal of 25K words. So am pretty happy that despite the month I've had that, I've achieved it. It made me realise that I had chosen a realistic goal for me. 50K would have been too much. So I worked with my schedule, my health & in the end it worked out.

There was a total of 10 days that I didn't do any writing for one reason or another and I'd like to improve on that next time around. Even if it's only a sentence, just so it's not a zero count.

To all my fellow 50kers, great going. And thanks for the words of encouragement. And thanks to Diane and Sandie for organising. You ladies are champs.

Another happy smile today.

Going to the conference!

Yes, I'm definitely going to the RWA conference in August. Woohoo! All thanks to a grant from Arts SA. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

It has really made my week, month, well year! I can't wait to meet everyone I know from cyber space in person (Bootcampers, HT and Web teams,  Romaus loop et al) and meet other writers I don't know yet, and have the opportunity to pitch to agents and a publisher.

It really is very exciting. So I have my happy face on!

A big thank you to everyone who helped me with my application - writers are just the best!!!

Challenge Update - week 3

Not a good week this week as I mentioned yesterday. I only managed 1072 extra words for the week. Still it's better than zero. I do have a busy week coming up, so I'm trying to think of times I can snatch for writing. I did write 700 words one evening during commercial breaks. So may have to do something again like that. It gives my shoulder/arm a rest, but also gives me a burst to want to keep on writing. Keeping the story fresh.

Total so far:

Happy writing!
Happy reading!
Happy week!

Eeek! and Jericho

I've had a really bad week with writing this week. Other things taking priority but the return of my shoulder/arm pain. So I'm doing short bursts at the computer.

I've just finished watching Season 2 of Jericho. What I really hate about living out of the US is that we really don't get a say in how a TV show will do rating wise. Apparently, this was axed after Season One but because of a fantastic run of fan support sending nuts to CBS  in protest (yep, that's right, nuts - it's a reference to the final episode of season one).  Alas apparently the ratings didn't pick up and the show was officially cancelled. I watched both endings they had on the DVD. And am saddened there will not be a season 3. It would have been a kick arse season.

Actually thinking on the TV situation, the odd times certain shows get on TV, you wonder how they would ever get ratings. It's a real bummer when you get into a TV show, only to have it ripped out from you. And now with more and more people watching shows over the internet, you have to wonder if the networks have their ratings systems keeping up with technology.

Challenge Update

I am really pleased that a push yesterday got me over the halfway mark in my goal - woohoo!

I think it was due to watching a hunky Wolverine *wink* and a real good movie of escapism.

So my total is:

meaning that I wrote 7 800 words for week two. Gotta be happy with that, as well that so far these words have been three flash fictions, and finishing a skeleton draft of a short novella. Now to pick up on one of my other drafts, but after a day of working in front of the computer for other reasons (and no, not surfing, thank you very much), I am absolutely bushed. I think I'll take a break and see how I go later.

To my fellow 50Ks in 30 Days participants, congrats on your achievements and happy writing!

Steps forward and back

I had a great start to the week with my writing sprints. But since Thursday, I've had to concentrate on other matters. I'm officially a student again - studying Financial Services in a very part time capacity. So now my brain has to think 'logically' as well as creatively. Oh joy.

I have been doing some editing today and will be going to see Wolverine later in the day. (Mon, did your ears perk up? - LOL!)

So looking forward to some eye candy...um research. That's right, it's research. Story telling in the visual form. Uh huh.

Challenge Update

Week one check-in ~

Yep, I managed to add in another 1000 words to my word count during a sprint. Yes, shoulder and arm sore afterward, but it felt great after two days of no writing.

So I think I'm target for my 25Ks.

Lying low

Well I've had to cut computer time dramatically in the last few days. My right arm and shoulder hurt, so typing is uncomfortable as is using a mouse. I've gone to the physio who ouch, ouch, ouch.... worked on the problem and taped up my shoulder for a few days. So I'm not really here OK?

This means that my efforts with the June Challenge is taking a step back. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up soon. I'm just over 5200 words so I'm happy with that since I haven't written anything for over two days (that's 21% of my goal).

Stavros Flatley in the Final

I love these guys - can you tell? - but they have such a fun attitude and make me smile.

Unfortunately, embedding is not possible, so to see them in Britain's Got Talent final, follow this link

And the judge's comments were spot on. Hey after all, they had Simon Cowell laughing and loving their act.

Unfortunately, they didn't win. But the fantastic dance act Diversity did - wow, what an act! Following second was another favourite of mine, Susan Boyle. Just adore her.

Until next time, be well.

Introducing the SARA website

Well over the few couple of months, I've been very very slowly working on a website for the SARA group (South Australian Romance Authors) with alot of input from members. It's still has Coming Soon pages but to all purposes it's up and running.

If you want a free website hosting service, Weebly is a good one as there is no advertising other than the mandatory footer, that says 'Create a free website with Weebly'. There's some lovely designs and you can change to suit, as we did.

You can find our website here.

And this is our logo. Hope you like both.
